Water Safety Ireland has created a free educational resource for primary schools called PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety). PAWS outlines life-saving guidelines for children of every age and is available digitally. It teaches children how to be safe around water in homes, farms, pools, beaches and on our waterways. We will be completing the PAWS programme with the children as part of the PE & SPHE curriculums.
Our Infant, 1st and 2nd Classes learned all about keeping safe around water.
They took part in lots of practical tasks - well done to all of the children!
5th Class learned all about the importance of water safety.
Look at the posters that they made!
Gymnastics
The Gymnastics equipment was set up in the hall for the 6 weeks after the February mid-term. All classes really enjoyed them :)
Skipping Workshop
We were very lucky to have "Skippy John" from Skipping 4 Life visiting our school for a skipping workshop for 2 days. Every class enjoyed learning lots of different skipping skills and we finished the workshop with a show, where some children from each class displayed some of the new skills they had learned. It was a brilliant 2 days and has really promoted skipping in our school!
Climb the Heights Skipping Challenge
(17th Jan - 11th Feb: 4 weeks)
All classes have really enjoyed skipping to climb different mountains. It has been such a fun challenge. The children have loved trying out the new skills they learned and using the schools new skipping ropes!
