Welcome to Second Class!
Sports Day was a great success in Scoil Mhuire. We had such fun in the beautiful sunshine and we loved every activity. We especially enjoyed our well deserved ice-cream at the end of the day!
Congratulations to all the 2nd class children in Scoil Mhuire who did such a brilliant job making their Communion last weekend. They were amazing and all the children looked lovely in their outfits!
Active Schools Week
Active schools week was a huge success in Scoil Mhuire. On Monday our class ran a marathon. On Tuesday we had Zumba with Benina. It was so much fun. On Wednesday we had races, on Thursday we did PE with our buddies from 6th class and on Friday we concluded with a teacher verses students game of rounders. We loved doing "wake up shake up" every morning. We had great fun with the active homework and feel very fit and healthy after the week.
Our Special Visitors
We were so lucky to have special visitors to our school over the last 3 weeks. We loved visiting them every day and learning all about chicks. We especially loved when they visited our class an we got to touch them and some of us got to hold them. Popcorn and April will be sadly missed by our class.
Intercultural day was a huge success in Scoil Mhuire. We learned all about China and learned how to sing "head, shoulders, knees and toes" in chinnese. We did lovely chinnese artwork. Everyone dressed up in their countries clothing and looked super. Some of the children participated in a parade. We were so lucky to have parents visit our class and we learned all about Canada and Africa from them. We had so much fun!

Our Trip to the Train Station
Today we visited Leixlip Louisa Bridge train station. On the way we noticed lots of signs of Spring and all the different types of houses. Two trains passed while we were there, an express train and a commuter train. We waved at the passengers. We saw that there were two platforms and we pretended to buy our train tickets at the ticket machine. We saw some ducks in the canal and we spotted the old station house. We had so much fun. We are really loving learning all about trains.
Friendship week was a great success this year. We were paired up with Ms O' Driscoll's 6th class. We did some paired reading, played games outside and enjoyed an afternoon of board games with them. We also got to play with them in the yard at break times. They gave us friendship bracelets. We had so much fun. In our class room we had a secret friend for the week that we had to do random acts of kindness for. We also had a compliment box and a worry monster visited our room for the week. We made friendship week posters too. We really enjoyed the week!
We have really enjoyed having the gymnastics equipment set up this term. It has been so much fun!
Last Friday we celebrated Grandparents Day. We had lots of questions prepared for our Grandparents. We heard stories about what school was like when they were small. We talked about their favourite games, their favourite food and their favourite teachers. We also made cards to give to give our Grandparents. After the classroom visit we had a lovely prayer service in the hall for the whole school and our Grandparents. We had a great day and we hope our Grandparents did too!
We had such a brilliant day in school today. We loved dressing up in our costumes and we all looked so scary!
This week we visited the garden and planted garlic with Mrs. Daly. It was great fun and we learned a lot about gardening and planting. We also planted daffodils. We hope to make a lot of garden visits throughout the year to watch our garlic and daffodils grow!
September has been a busy month for 2nd class. We have been really lucky to have 2 visitors to do PE with us. Playball teachers came to give us a demonstration on the game and we really enjoyed it. Coach Michael from the G.A.A is visiting us every Friday and we have been learning how to play football. It is a lot of fun!
2nd class have worked so hard this term. We had a lovely day today playing with our friends and our toys. We sang Christmas songs in assembly and we looked really great in our Christmas jumpers. We wish everyone a happy Christmas!
Show and Tell
We had great fun on Show and Tell day. It was great telling the other members of the class all about our favourite toys and games. We asked lots of questions and loved having the opportunity to play with all the different toys and games.
