We really enjoying making streetscapes with fabric & fibre.
We also loved acting out scenes from the novel 'Wonder' during Drama time!
Sports Day!
We had a great day in the sunshine!
Chess Record
How many chess players can play at the same time? To celebrate Ireland hosting the European Schools Chess Championship for the first time, Ficheall (Primary Teachers promoting chess) wants to celebrate the huge number of Irish primary schools promoting chess for social and cognitive skills. They are attempting to set a record for the most chess players playing at the one time. We set up some teams and enjoyed playing each other in this skillful game at 10am on Thursday May 30th. Checkmate!
Intercultural Day
5th class had the country of Mexico for Intercultural Day. We sang La Bamba in the hall and researched aspects of life and culture in Mexico. We met up with our buddy class, Ms. Doran's 1st, in the afternoon to play some games and find out about their Intercultural Day!
Exploding Volcanoes!
We have been learning about volcanoes in English and Science. We went outside and used bicarbonate of soda (alkali) and vinegar (acid) to make our own volcanoes! Red food dye made our mixture look like lava!
