JANUARY
Grandparents' Day 2019
On Tuesday 29th January we welcomed our grandparents into our class. They taught us lots about their time in school and even showed us how to play a game of marbles and cards. We had great fun singing and dancing.
NOVEMBER
Science Week
We visited Leixlip Library on the 8th of November. We attended a Chemistry Workshop. We carried out experiments investigating mixtures and their separations and we examined the dyes used by sweet manufacturer Skittles. We also learned about the process of chromatography which is used for separating a mixture of chemical substances into its individual components.
G.A.A
We have started playing gaelic football with coach Michael again this year. We are learning lots of new skills!

We did a maths trail around the school during Maths Week.
Jersey Day
We wore our favourite County Jersey into school on Friday to support the charity GOAL.
Papercopters Experiment
We really enjoyed ourselves this week during Science. We were experimenting with Papercopters. First we had to construct our Papercopters (which were a little bit tricky!). Then we predicted which way the Papercopters would spin:
A. = Clockwise
B. = Anti-clockwise
Results: The Papercopters spun both clockwise and anticlockwise. However, we discovered that in order to change the direction in which the Papercopter spun you had to change the direction of its wings.

Norah Patten
We were so lucky to have Astronaut Norah Patten visit our class. She showed us lots of pictures and videos of her training to go into space. Did you know it takes 9 months to travel to Mars? We are now going to design Mission Patches for Norah.
SEPTEMBER
We had lots of fun exploring in the school garden! Mrs. Daly asked us to help her pick some tomatoes and courgettes.
