This week is Active Schools Week and we have lots of activities throughout the week to help us get moving and stay active. We even have Active homework so that we can keep up the exercising at home!
Wake Up! Shake Up!
Every morning this week the whole school will start the day with 10 minutes of exercising in the yard to help us wake up and get moving. We would love to see lots of parents joining in too.
Monday
Monday was "Marathon Monday". 1 lap of our yard is 167m. Each class ran a total 252 laps between them, equivalent to a marathon.

Darragh from GNS came to do circuit training with our third and fourth classes. It certainly looks like a tough workout!

Wednesday
We had a great turnout for our parents' run. Well done to everybody who got involved.
Today we had relay races from Junior Infants to Second class. We had skipping races, egg and spoon, an obstacle race and more. Each team was made up of children from each level and one staff member. We had great fun and the teams had fantastic support from their classmates on the sidelines.
Thursday
Darragh from GNS came back again to do circuit training with our fifth and sixth classes this time.
Friday
We finished off another great Active Week with our annual Teachers Vs. Students game of rounders. Once again it was a very competitive match with both teams discussing tactics before the game. Sadly, Mr. Byrne must have missed the teachers' meeting as he seemed to forget which team he was playing for!
The students took an early lead and although the teachers rallied, in the end we could not close the gap. The students proved too strong for us on the day and won with a decisive 25-13 victory. Congratulations students! Teachers - mandatory weekly rounders training begins next week in preparation for next year's tournament.
